Introduction
Polar Technology required a cost-effective industrial flooring refurbishment for a 460 m² area at its Oxfordshire facility. The existing floor was an old and damaged resin system that was heavily scratched, worn and marked by defects left behind after plant and partitions had been removed. Elgood Industrial Flooring was appointed to prepare the floor, carry out repairs and install a Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy coating in Slate Grey, delivering a durable and visually improved industrial floor in just four days.
Background
Polar Technology needed an industrial floor that would improve the appearance and usability of the space without the unnecessary cost and waste of full floor removal. The existing resin floor was damaged and tired in appearance, but it still offered a base that could be refurbished rather than stripped out completely.
Having assessed Elgood Industrial Flooring’s coating at SSTT next door, Polar chose Britdura 750 for this new venture. The aim was to achieve the right balance between performance, appearance and cost while keeping disruption and waste to a minimum.

The Solution
Elgood Industrial Flooring specified and installed a complete Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy flooring refurbishment system for Polar Technology in Oxfordshire.
Key elements of the solution included:
- Dust controlled diamond grinding
Dust controlled diamond grinding was used to clean the surface and reduce edges across the floor. This preparation method also helped create the right mechanical key for strong adhesion of the new epoxy coating system. - Vacuum cleaning
Once grinding was complete, the floor was vacuum cleaned thoroughly to remove dust and debris and leave a sound surface ready for coating. - Repairs, filling and smoothing
The floor was heavily scratched, worn and littered with defects left from previous plant and partitions. These areas were repaired, filled and smoothed to improve both the practicality and final appearance of the floor. - Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy coating
Polar selected Elgood Industrial Flooring’s Britdura 750 high-build solvent free epoxy coating. This system offered the right balance between cost, performance and appearance, making it an ideal choice for refurbishing the existing resin floor rather than replacing it. - Slate Grey finish
The completed floor was finished in Slate Grey, giving the area a cleaner, smarter and more professional industrial appearance.
All works were completed by Elgood Industrial Flooring’s own in-house installation team, ensuring consistent workmanship and a single point of responsibility throughout the project.
