Installation Programme

The work was carried over 1- 2 years on an as and when basis. A square metre rate was established for an agreed minimum size of area for any one phase. Typically, the phases were carried out over shut downs, Monday to Friday, weekends and in between improvements to the fabric of the building.

Vaillant Selected

As part of the large investment programme in the Nottingham Road UK manufacturing site, Hepworth wished to upgrade the appearance of the floor cost effectively. In total, the floors measured over 15,000 square metres.

Vaillant Required

An economical but hard wearing floor coating to seal the worn concrete and to prevent the occurrence of dust. The coating was to assist in improving the overall presentation of the Manufacturing site. The critical timing of each phase of work demanded a short notice and flexible installation service.

Preparation

Light to medium shotblasting was used to provide a physical key for the floor coating. An upright diamond-grinding machine was used to prepare the floor at wall edges and at the bases of machinery.

The Chosen Floor

The Britdura 500 solvent free Epoxy floor coating was manufactured and installed by Elgood Industrial Flooring Ltd. The overall finish had a fine slip resistant texture. A coarse texture was laid around the lorry bays to help safety when forklifts transport materials. Hepworth chose the colour Slate Grey. This was found to be the most practical colour for frequent fork lift traffic.
